12. Dealing with outliers

In this chapter, we describe and illustrate several approaches to deal with outliers. By outliers in data, we mean data points that significantly differ from the pattern of other observations in a set of data. They may arise from unaccounted for or underestimated errors, or just be anomalous occurrences.
